Senate Study Bill 3126 amends current commercial establishment laws by raising certification fees for commercial kennels, public auctions, dealers and commercial breeders.
Commercial dog breeders are facing new regulations and limits in South Dakota. House Bill 1146 would provide selling restrictions, care and record keeping requirements and would limit breeders from maintaining more than 50 dogs at a time UNLESS approved by the local government.
New Hampshire House Bill 1624 would impose new restrictions on any person having custody of more than 10 intact dogs over the age of 4 months for the purpose of selling their offspring as household pets, as well as anyone acting as agent or intermediary in negotiating, buying, selling, or transferring dogs.
The West Virginia Legislature has introduced two bills, Senate Bill 147 and House Bill 2699, relating to
dog breeding restrictions.
The HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) has filed with the Secretary of State a ballot measure
titled "Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act" against dog breeders to be presented on the November 2010
ballot for a vote of the people of the state of Missouri.
